I don’t think this is a bug because I was just testing this on a test site and didn’t see any events going to free if a discount code was entered in the cart.
Can you provide more details on how you were able to reproduce this? eg. Which event, the code that’s used, and what the amount of discount is for?
This would be the case when the tickets cost $25 each. The promo code will discount each ticket in the cart by the amount of the discount if the event allows the promo code to be used. The current iteration of Event Espresso’s discount code features is a bit limited in this way.
The dev team is working on rebuilding a new discount system for a future update that will offer more flexibility to how the discounts get applied (eg. options for making the discounts apply to the cart total -or- each ticket).
If so, it looks like the option to allow discount codes needs to be set to Yes and the loveart code needs to be checked.
