Why is google map taken out from Venue? I mean, Google Map is like an essential feature in any event site, what’s the reason that there is no direct way to display a google map in EE now? I saw that it was there before and that’s why I purchased the developer license just to find that this basic feature is not there…
Hi Roll, I’m sorry for the confusion. Had you read somewhere that the Google maps was removed? I can assue you it has not been removed. If you add a venue into the venue manager and enter an address that Google maps recognizes, you can make the map display in either of these two ways: 1) You can place the [ESPRESSO_VENUE] shortcode in the event editor. This will display the map image on the registration page. More info here: http://staging.eventespresso.com/wiki/shortcodes-template-variables/#venue -or- 2) You can set “Display the address in the registration form?” to Yes in Event Espresso>Template settings. This will display a link to the location on maps.google.com more information here:
But 2) won’t display an image right? and in case I use 1) there will be double venue presented.
That’s correct. By default option two displays a link to the page on Google maps. If you use option #1, we recommend setting “Display the address in the registration form?” to No. You’ll notice that it says just below that option: “Disable the address if you are using the venue manager shortcodes in your event description.”
