Hi.
After the Norwegian language file got completed, I exported it to .po and .mo, gave it the exact same names as the previous files, deleted the old files and uploaded the new files to the server.
My problem now is that Event Espresso don’t seem to pick up the file. Everything just went back to English.
What could be wrong, and how do I fix it?

Hi Marius,

Have you checked the header information in the PO file is correct?

OK,

I will pass this one on to Chris for when he comes online, as he knows the ins and outs of the language files.

Marius —

Are you saying you exported it from GlotPress? There are several things that need to be set (that GlotPress doesn’t do automatically) before it will work in the plugin. The updated language file has been added to Event Espresso in 3.1.29, so updating to the latest version should fix the issue. If you’ve already upgraded and overwrote the language file with the export from GlotPress, I’d recommend downloading the zip file on your profile page and then uploading the mo and po from there.

Thank you, it’s working just fine now, but if i find some words or sentences that I should have transelated different due, to the placement and context of the word/sentence. How would I do this?
For my own sake, and other users.

Hi Marius,

You can customize your translation. Here’s a brief outline on how to do this:

1) We recommend poedit for working on translation files: http://www.poedit.net/

2) After you install poedit, you can download a copy of event-espresso and open the /languages/event_espresso-your-language.po file in poedit.

3) Use the Find tool to pull up the text string you need to modify.

4) Enter your text string modification in the lower text area.

5) Save, then upload the .po and newly generated .mo files to the wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/languages/ directory on your server.
