http://templatic.com/cms-themes/nightlife-events-directory-wordpress-theme

is the link to a theme I’m thinking about using. It does not have any event management capabilities per se, but I was wondering if it was possible to have EE and this theme use the same DB of events.

Hi Frank,

That’s a really cool looking theme. It looks like it has the event functionality built in, so I’m not sure how well that would work with Event Espresso. It would probably require some custom development to make Event Espresso look like that. But it could happen.

Well, that kind of answers my question…

I don’t want to have EE look like that or operate that way. I want to have a site that allows me to have people submit listings for display in a directory. I then want to offer to manage events FOR someone, using EE. However, I don’t want to manage two lists of events.. so I want to know if it’s possible to force both the theme I’m interested in and event espresso to reference the same database of events. I want the event listing functionality and the event management functionality to be separate. This theme does not offer ticket sales and other features that EE does. I would like to maintain the original direction and feature set of the theme, but enhance it’s capabilities with EE for certain customers who have paid for that service.

I’m not beyond paying the custom development costs, I just want to know if it’s possible. Last I heard there was no map funcionality for EE, and with much help from the support team I was able to make EE work with MapBox. Now I’m looking to do something else.. and am curious to know if it’s feasible based on how EE stores events vs the theme itself.
