I would like the ability to offer “subscription” to new events on the event calendar. Registered website users who sign up for alerts will automatically receive a notification whenever a new calendar event is added. Is this possible with the existing functionality?

Hi Jake,

In the current version, not easily. There isn’t any hooks for the event creation process at all.

Once we move over to Custom Post Types in 4.X then it will be a lot easier, there was some plugins on the WordPress plugin repository that would be able to do what you are saying though they might need tweaking for custom post types I didnt look at them in depth.

Until that point, without hacking core files to add in hooks it’s pretty much impossible to do what you are asking.

Ok, I will wait for Custom Post Types.

Thank you,

Jake
