Some events get “payment / transaction complete” notification back alright and their status is updated to Complete in EE, but about 50% do not get updated – and they are indeed completed in paypal.

I have read one of the sticky threads mentioning an issue that seems to be similar if not the exact one we have (http://staging.eventespresso.com/topic/problems-with-incomplete-payments-download/)

We use WP 3.4.2
and EE Version 3.1.30.5P

We don’t have any cache plugins.

Please tell us what to do to fix it (I am unsure whether the fix you mention in the post applies to us nor do I clearly understand what you mention there needs to be done)
thanks

Especially if you are getting IPN failures only part of the time, then the notifications theme template swap applies to you. What may be happening is the notifications page is slow enough to load that some times it times out before the paypal server’s time limit. Putting the downloaded file from that thread into your theme’s folder, then switching the notification page to that template will speed up your page load for IPN messages, hopefully getting them under the time limit.
