I’ve recently started using this plugin and on an initial test event, the social media icons are displaying poorly. Twitter and Google are mashed together and Facebook is invisible (except when viewing the code). I thought it might be my theme but activated TwentyTwelve and it’s nearly the same problem. See attached images with icons highlighted. Thanks for your assistance.

    Hello there,

Try to rule out any plugin conflicts. Deactivate all non Event Espresso plugins and test to see if the issue is still occurring. If it is not, then we know it is a problem with another plugin. You can then find out which plugin it is by reactivating each plugin individually and testing to see if the problem starts happening after the activation. When it occurs after activating a plugin, then we know this is the culprit.

Same issue! All putative interfering plugins disabled, but page doesn’t show facebook icon.

      Here is the code:

Could you help me, saying how the fb-button-code has to look like correctly? It would be of great benefit for my further error-analysis.

      Thanks
      Frank

Code wasn’t shown. Here (I hope) it comes again …

        <span class=”facebook-button ee-social-media-button “><iframe scrolling=”no” frameborder=”0″ allowtransparency=”true” src=”http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=?ee=2&layout=&show_faces=&width=&action=&font=&colorscheme=&height=”></iframe></span&gt;

There are a couple of other things that could be causing this. You may have outdated template files in the wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates directory. You can test this by clicking the “Rename Templates Directory” button in Event Espresso > Template Settings. This can be undone via FTP is there is a problem.

You can start with fresh templates from the newer version. If you have made modifications to the earlier version’s templates, you can copy the modifications into the newer version’s templates. When you’re finished, you can copy the modified files into /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates.

If you haven’t made any customizations, and you’re simply trying to update to the new version of Event Espresso, you can remove the templates from /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates using FTP or your host’s control panel file manager.
Please see this article in the documentation for more info:

        http://staging.eventespresso.com/wiki/put-custom-templates/

Also, there may be a theme function that is causing the issue. You can check for this by first switching to the TwentyTwelve theme (or any other theme from the wordpress.org theme repository, all of these themes pass a thorough code quality review before inclusion.)

          1) I am using Event Espresso – 3.1.30.1.
          2) Yes, indeed I have been used custom templates (for registration). However, after renaming wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates/-directory, and proofing this via template-settings, nothing happens. The problem continues.
3)I am using Twenty Twelve-Theme for development.

          ?
Could you be so kind and give me the correct html-code (example), which should delivered by the php-server to my browser?

          Tanks a lot!
          Frank

I am actually experiencing the same problem as Frank. It doesn’t work in either my theme or using the twenty twelve them.

I am running 3.1.30.1, no plugins except EE, and the issue persists if I remove custom EE Templates. It actually started about 2.5 days ago, but i’ve had bigger fish to fry and haven’t gotten back to it yet.

              Hi guys and gals,

We are aware of this issue, I raised a ticket for the developers to look into it as I cannot see any reason why it suddenly disappeared except perhaps something has changed at FB’s api end. There is no quick fix currently, but we are looking into it and will release an update as soon as we have it fixed. I’ll chase the developers up on this.

I’m the OP and here are my results from above suggestions:

                1. Switch to TwentyTwelve = no difference
                2. Disabling non-Espresso plugins = no difference
                3. Updating template files – we just purchased this product of Friday, so nothing should be outdated

Glad you are looking into the issue and hope it’s figured out soon as my site is supposed to launch on Thursday.

                Hello cerulean,

Thank you for posting your results. As Dean stated, we have turned this over to our developers for them to fix. We aren’t sure what is causing the problem.

I’m getting exactly the same behavior as described above. It’s definitely not an isolated issue. I checked another website that I know has the plug-in enabled and FB button missing there too.

                  HI Brad,

Thanks for the confirmation, as mentioned it has been passed on to the dev team to look into as it is likely an issue with how the plugin is interacting with Facebook, possibly a change in the API. We will get an update out as soon as it is fixed.

Any update? I’m having these issues on a 100% vanilla instillation with no plugins other than EE.
