Hey, i was wondering if there was anyway to pass information into shortcodes?
e.g. say i have some coded option boxes, would i be able to set it so that the output from the option box (lets say location1) was passed into the category id section of a calendar?

Not out of the box. The example you give would require customizing core Event Espresso functions.

Have a look at what can be done with template shortcodes where things like the event_id can get output into a template shortcode. http://staging.eventespresso.com/wiki/shortcodes-template-variables/
