I’m not seeing ways to really test what I want to know in the pro test drive site.
What I want to do is have a page for workshops/events and another page for classes which recur every week.
I am guessing there is a way to do this by giving the events a category type and using a shortcode to put only that category on each page. Is that correct?
However, I want both types to show up in the calendar view. Will that work?
The other thing I would want is to style each of the above pages differently. Probably would use the template add-on to put the workshops/events either in one of the grid templates or maybe the calendar table template (is that included in the business pack?), and the recurring classes page would be in some simple list form. Is this easy to do?

Yes, that’s the best way to do it.

Yes, the calendar will show all active events unless you specify it to only show a particular category.
Regarding the structure, I would agree that using the Custom Templates addon is a wise move here. It uses the [EVENT_LIST] shortcode as a base, so you can split them by categories as you wanted.
The Custom Templates addon is included in the business licence, but not the additional templates, so you would nee to buy the Grid template etc separately.
