I have a website that is designed for Obstacle racing. We have people signing up to register for a race, currently there are wave times that people can select when registering (eg start time of 9am, 9:10am, etc) At the moment we have problems with people trying to register in times that are already booked out. Would the Seat Charting add-on be a good solution that would allow people to reserve their spot in a wave? and then show them when a wave is booked out?

| Hi Debbie, The seating chart is a possible solution, but in my opinion over complicates things. Quick question do you allow group registrations or just single? |
Hi Tony, Thanks for the quick response. We do allow group registrations as well as individual ones. | |
| There is actually an experimental option to set registration limits on time slots. (Event Espresso -> General Settings. ‘Use registration limits on time slots?’) So if you have 5 time slots, each allowing 10 attendees, you set the total attendees to 50 and then each time slot to have a Qty of 10. Unfortunately this doesn’t work well with Group registrations as a group registration is classed as one, meaning if someone books 10 people on a time slot in a group registration, the limit drops by 1 rather than 10. The seating chart needs each attendee to manually select a ‘seat’ meaning 10 attendees = 10 individual seat selections. The only other work around I can think of currently would be to create individual events for each time slot, allowing you to control the attendee limits for each. |
