Hi,
I hope I’m not just overlooking something… Is there a search function for the events calendar? The WordPress search form doesn’t search events for some reason, only posts and pages…

Thanks!
Sean

The search function that ships with WordPress only searches posts and pages by default. You will have to create a custom search function to include searching events (or any other custom data).

However, we have added a shortcode that will display an auto-complete search box on a page or post (widget coming soon). But it is still in kind of a beta mode right now.

To use this feature, you will need to add [EVENT_SEARCH] to a page or post. If you decide to use this, feedback is appreciated.

Thanks, Seth. I think I’ll stick to the WordPress search form for the moment; but I’ll keep a lookout for your widget!

Hi Seth,
I did decide to give it a go. Unfortunately, when I typed the short code on the Calendar or Registration pages, no function appeared. Instead, “[EVENT_SEARCH]” displayed at the top of the page.

Do you have the latest version of EE installed? Should be 3.1.25.

Sure do! And any other short codes (like [EVENT_REGISTRATION]) work just fine.

That’s strange. It should looks something like the search tool on this page:

I just installed EE on a local test site and that shortcode seems to work.

Can you look in the event-espresso/includes/shortcodes.php and see if you have the EVENT_SEARCH code in there?
