I’m trying the live demo and using the Search function. My client is wanting to consider EE for professional development courses where they feature the Instructor prominently for each course. We need to have Search include the instructor names. Is this possible?
The Demo appears to only search the event title or event type.
Currently those are the only available search terms.
EE4 should allow a broader search system as it is Custom Post Type based so WordPress search or a WP search plugin can make that easier. However, currently EE4 does not have any Staff/Speaker features, these will be coming in the future as we expand that version.
So, just to clarify, the default search should be sufficient? I tried searching on your demo for terms within the event description (where the speaker info would theoretically display), but didn’t seem to work.
No that’s not correct. In EE 3 the search shortcode will only search event name and venue name.
In EE4 it will allow a greater search as everything is custom post types, BUT EE4 does not have any staff feature yet, so it was just a note for future upgrades.
Thank you for the clarification. So in the meantime if we choose EE4 we could include speaker info in the plain description field and tat would be searchable? In other words in EE4 are all visible or available fields searchable?
I’ve run some testing on this with Event Espresso 4 and the Event Name (Title) and Event Description are searched.
