Downloading update from https://staging.eventespresso.com?pu_request_plugin=event-espresso&pu_get_download=1&pue_active_version=3.1.30.2P&site_domain=capitalcitycondors.org%2Fwp2&pue_install_key=503447714&pu_plugin_api=cf69483c5d72a99b409328f0d140d534&new_pue_check=1…

Download failed. SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed

this is what I get when I try to install the updates via the Plugin updater in WP.

Andrew —

What happens if you disable https for the WordPress admin?

I have looked around WP and don’t see that option.

Where does the WP updater get its update URL from? it must be somewhere associated with the plugin.

Hi Andrew,

There was a slight hiccup with that version and the auto updates, it didn’t affect everyone.

I would recommend doing a manual update, by downloading the zip file to your compute. Log into WordPress, deactivate and delete event espresso and then click Plugins > Add New > Upload, find the zip you downloaded and upload it.

As always I would recommend backing up your database before doing any updates.

done. Here’s hoping auto update works for future releases ;)

thx

Hi, I got the update notification for 3.1.30.5 P on my site and tried to update using the WP auto updater and got exactly the same message (different version of course) as in my OP.

Of note, the https URL works if I copy/paste it from the error message to my browser. But the WP updater seems to not like the SSL cert.

I manually updated as before. Would be nice if this would work, though.

Hi Andrew,

It may be that the CA cert on your server that isn’t up to date. You could contact your web host to find out if that’s the case.

We could point you to a way to bypass the security check, but manually uploading a fresh copy of Event Espresso would be easier than hacking the plugin update engine client code each time you want to update.
