A PayPal business account cannot be used with PayPal Pro, it would need to be upgraded to a Pro account.
The standard PayPal option can be used with a PayPal business account. If you require an onsite payment method, one really good alternative is Stripe.com. They do not have the monthly fees like PayPal Pro does. Note that if you’re going to set up on-site payments, you’ll need to install an SSL certificate for the domain and set up SSL for the registration pages as outlined here: http://staging.eventespresso.com/wiki/espresso-sslhttps/
Loving this swipe app! Wow – looked this up on the forum this morning because I tried the exact same thing with Paypal pro. Paypal wasn’t even friendly when I tried to work with them to set up that type of account – thanks for the heads up on this! Should help us get revenue in the door right away!
Thanks, Josh. That cleared things up. Unfortunately, Swipe is not available in the UK yet, so I’ve gone with the PayPal basic option – not great, because I don’t like sending visitors away from my sit, but it seems the best option at the moment.
