Hi everyone,

I have selected euro as currency in Payment Settings – Paypal Settings, but when the customer is transfered to Paypal it uses USD. Any ideas?

Regards,
Yannis

Hi,

Please go to the Event Espresso Payment Settings and check that the PayPal option “Select the Currency for Your Country ” is set to Euro.

Come on Dean! I specifically wrote that I have set it to Euro. It actually reads “EUR”.

Tnx

Hi Yannis,

It was obviously early when I responded, sorry about that.

Checking your site versus a test install, it looks like you have changed the EUR currency code to €, is that correct?

It appears that the gateway code has either been changed or is picking up on the symbol change and is sending the € symbol to PayPal as part of the data that is transferred over to them.

However PayPal need that information () to be EUR not €, which is why it is not recognising it and reverting to PayPals default of USD.

NP Dean,

This was the behaviour before the change from EUR to €. Then I followed Josh’s advice. Is this invalid? What should I do?

Regards,
Yannis

In event-espresso\gateways\paypal\settings.php the line for euro is:

<option value="EUR">
Line 146: <?php _e('Euros (€)', 'event_espresso'); ?>

So, this seems to be correct. Paypal still defaults to USD.

Hey, I just tried to test it again and now it works. I will get back to you if something changes. I really cannot understand what’s going on.

Regards,
Yannis
