Hi there,
I was interested to know if there was any knowledge of integration with PayPal (or Authorize.net) for an authorize and capture functionality.
To clarify, this feature would basically authorize the transaction, but not capture the transaction (and completely process it) until we actually want the person that signed up to come to the event and process their transaction.
Our events take registration from any members, but if we don’t have a certain number of members committed to attending, we do not want to charge their card. Currently, we would have to process the transaction (let’s say $150) and, if we have to cancel that particular event, process a refund individually for $150 to all of the members.
Ideally, we would be able to use a feature like this (https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=developer/howto_admin_authcapture), but have it integrated into the Event Espresso settings. This way, we can take a customers payment and authorize it, and when the event is a “go”, we will be able to capture/process the transaction through Event Espresso (in conjunction with Paypal).
Let me know if I need to clarify anything, or if something like this already exists but I’m missing it. My goal is to streamline the process and avoid using the PayPal backend and the Event Espresso backend.
This functionality doesn’t exist in Event Espresso, so it would need to be done on the gateway side and then manually updated in Event Espresso once the transaction has been processed. We aren’t currently taking on any custom development projects at this time, but if you would like to post a free job posting on http://jobs.eventespresso.com, you are welcome to. Also, let us know if you would like us to put you in contact with one of our preferred outside developers.
