Hello,

We are a music promoter and our events are for up to 2000 people. What we need is a well functioning registration/ticketing and gate control.
Do we need to activate akismet, jetpack or any registration forms to make EE better. Would they conflict and is it better just to keep it as simple as possible?
We need fast and efficient ticket selling function. Is there an optimised setting for EE that you would recommend?

Kind Regards

Peter

Simpler is probably better. The only thing you might need to prevent spam is the recaptcha feature in EE. The best way to keep the site fast is to avoid bad hosting environments. Shared hosting is a mixed bag, a virtual server is good, a dedicated server is better.

Thanks,

What is the best plan on hostgator or bluehost for a reliable service. We are on the baby plan now. Can you recommend a host?
We also need a contact form, which one would you recommend?

Thank you.

Peter

Hi Peter,

We do recommend Hostgator, Bluehost and WPEngine (though the latter does require more site tweaking as it is a fairly closed system).

Which plan you take is really up to you and your business needs, I would suggest speaking to the hosts about this, as they are server specialists. Obviously the more resources you have (sever wise) the better, but Event Espresso can run on most hosting types. Please see the requirements page http://staging.eventespresso.com/requirements/ especially take note that we do not recommend Windows based servers.

Form wise, there are plenty of free plugins out there, see here http://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=form. While it might be overkill for a simple contact form and expensive, Gravity forms is also very good.
