We just set up a MailChimp account and I’m using the MailChimp integration plugin. I tested it with one of our events, and it works great, but there are more than 50 others for which I’d like to submit the attendee data. Is there any way to make a bulk change to all of our upcoming events?
Also, let’s say a user registers for a class in the first quarter and gets added to the MailChimp list, and then signs up for another class second quarter. Is there a way to not submit their email again without maintaining a second database?
From what I can tell, on the MailChimp side it sends them another opt-in email, but if they click “confirm” it doesn’t make a duplicate entry in the list (which is good). But I’d like to see it NOT send the opt-in email again if they are already on the list. Is there a way to make the API just cancel the add subscriber request if the email is already on the list?
I had to test this out to be sure, but from looking at the code and testing, if you sign up with the same email, to the same list then it does not send out a secondary optin email. This was tested with Mailchimp add on 1.1
I tested with different groups with the same list and it still doesnt send out the duplicate optin email.
I’m testing again to see if I get the same results.
What about the ability to set all existing events so that they send the attendee info to MailChimp?
Also, is there a way to send different fields for the First and Last Name fields to MailChimp? The way we set up registration, we had to make the First and Last name fields for the student, but the email is for the parent, but we also collect the parent’s name. We would like to submit the parent’s name instead of the student. Would we have to modify the plugin?
Setting up the events to send details will require editing them one by one, unless you do a database query to set them all.
Changing the fields would require a plugin edit, yes.
