Hi. I’m interested in creating a site for a local rec association — kids sports teams from soccer in the fall to lacrosse in the spring. Families will need to pay a small fee, and the organization will need to keep track of who has signed up, who has paid, etc. I’m looking for a polished solution to this problem, and something that can be customized visually to fit with the rest of the site. Is EE the best choice for this, or is it overkill? From the documentation it doesn’t seem like it’s far away from what I want — just wanted to get your sales pitch.

No sales pitch here, we just try to be helpful.

In general I think Event Espresso will work well for you. Event Espresso shouldn’t get in the way of your website design or anything. You can see who has paid and who still needs to pay and you can download a list of all the registrants so you can use that list however you need. You will probably only need the Personal License to begin with, but the Multiple Event Registration addon (http://staging.eventespresso.com/product/espresso-multiple/) might come in useful if you want to “sell” different prices of tickets or invite people to register for different events/sports that are planned for the recreation association.
