You can limit group registrations for each event when creating it using the group registration settings on the right hand side http://d.pr/i/GD1y other than that the only limit is the Attendee Limit.
Yes there is, if you go to Event Espresso -> General Settings. Go down to ‘Option Event Settings’. There you will see ‘Enable attendee pre-approval feature?’ you then need to go into each attendee and Approve each one.
Once activated the feature is site wide but events are set by default to not require pre-approval.
When creating the event again within the event options on the side bar, you’ll find the Attendee pre-approval required option. http://d.pr/i/zxAN
Set that to yes to for the events you require this to be active for.
