It seems that the first time a user tries to purchase tickets using the cart link short code

[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK anchor=”CLICK HERE TO REGISTER” direct_to_cart=1 moving_to_cart=”Redirecting to cart…”]

They are taken to a page with the option ‘view details’ and ‘add to cart’. But it does not display the ticket options. Just a price for one of them with no description. If they click ‘view details’ it takes them back to the event page, at which point the register/cart link takes them to the appropriate view.

This is causing confusion and any help resolving it asap would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Charlie

Hi Charlie,

When clicking the CLICK HERE TO REGISTER link in the event, it correctly takes me to the Cart page.

I was never taken back the the event registration page (the one with the view details link).

Do you know what browser they were using?

Thanks Dean. I have confirmed the problem on Firefox and Chrome. I have had a few people tell me they have experienced the same thing in Safari. I took a screenshot of what it looks like, maybe this will help

Dean. Please try it again with Safari and private browsing disabled. I have been able to re-create the problem now and it puts the user in an endless loop between the event overview page and the broken cart page.

Hi,

I tested with Safari 5.1.7 and again had no issues.

Can you paste the shortcode you are using in the event here please?

Sure, here is the code.

[ESPRESSO_CART_LINK anchor=”CLICK HERE TO REGISTER” direct_to_cart=1 moving_to_cart=”Redirecting to cart…”]

It is very odd. It seems to only happen the very first time that a browser visits – then it goes away. It seems to be fairly wide spread though, I’ve experienced it on 3 browsers + many users have contacted us about it saying they were unable to register.

OK, I did some more testing, even dusting off Opera! It all worked well, but I retried Firefox after an update (?) and it did what you said.

Looking into this further it looks like it’s an intermittent Javascript issue. There is an error due to the lightbox not calling jQuery correctly, but I cannot pin down for sure it is that (though I have my suspicions). Basically if the Javascript fails the users will go through to the event list as that is where the actual link goes.

I would start by fixing the Javascript issue, which is being caused by the lightbox which is part of Facebook Photos plugin.

Thanks Dean! So, if I’m understanding this correctly – the problem is being caused by the photo gallery plugin? I’ve disabled the gallery and tested – it seems like the issue has gone away, but I can’t say for sure because its intermittent.

Hi Charlie,

Yes I believe it is due to the Facebook Photos, but it’s not clear. I would leave it deactivated for a while and see if the issue recurs or not.
