I’m having issues getting Event Espresso and mailchimp to work together. I entered the mailchimp api code. Then I created a new event, selected the list I wanted the info to be sent to, and then published. I filled out the form on my site to test it and it is not working. The api calls are failing with mailchimp.

I’ve talked with mailchimp and they say it is a problem with the app I’m using (Event Espresso). I tried the api code with another program (Wufoo.com) to test it and it works just fine with Wufoo. Confirming that his is an issue with Event Espresso.

Any help with this would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi Chris,

I’ve come across this before on this thread but I don’t believe it is EE causing an issue. Mailchimp API docs even state that API calls will fail sometimes source

One thing to check would be the list requirements, does it require more than just a name and email?

Hi Dean,

Thanks for the reply. I have tested this about ten times. It’s failed every single time. I understand that API calls can fail sometimes but I haven’t got this to work once yet.

Since I’ve used this same API code with a Wufoo form and it works great wouldn’t that rule out that it is a Mailchimp issue? I’m trying to figure out what I’m not thinking about here. Is there some other setting somewhere in EE I’m missing to successfully integrate with Mailchimp? Maybe somewhere I’m supposed to assign which fields in the EE form will match which fields in Mailchimp?

I’ve made sure that the Mailchimp list is only requiring name and email so that isn’t the problem.

I’d love to get this working asap. Any help would be great! Thank you.

Hey Chris,

I see what you are saying though I still wouldn’t rule out Mailchimp or an unknown issue here.

There really isnt much to the plugin, it takes the API code contacts Mailchimp and provides the email, first and last name.

As I can’t recreate this issue, I’m going to raise a ticket with the devs to have a look into it and make sure nothing has changed API wise.

I finally got this to work with at least one of my lists which is all I need. Thought I would let you know. =)
