Hi there,

Upgraded to 3.1.35 but it has broken the Layerslider plugin that we use on our site.

1. Can I downgrade the plugin to the previous version? Where do I download this from?
2. Any idea how I can get the two plugins working happily together?

Did you update the LayerSlider plugin to its latest version:

Yeah, thanks we’re up to date there.

Everything was working happily until I ran the update. Disabling the main EE plugin fixes the layerslider.

Can you go into plugins/event-espresso/espresso.php and try uncommenting the line 733:

wp_enqueue_script('jquery');

I can’t find jquery being loaded on your site, and that line did get commented out on the last update.

Thanks for the suggestion. No success yet sorry.

Hi,

I am assuming the site we have on file for you is the site that has the issues – NewWine.

If so, can I suggest looking at the theme issues. There are at least 2 javascript errors coming up which may affect the layerslide plugin, as these things often use javascript themselves.

Obviously it may not be the issue, but I think it is an angle worth looking into.

The errors are in the themes main.js and it is calling the shorthand version of jQuery ($) incorrectly.

You can test if this is an issue by temporarily changing themes to a default theme such as TwentyTwelve and seeing if layersliders kicks back in.

Ah, thanks for that. Using the Twenty Thirteen theme the layerslider works fine.

Does this mean I need to go back to the theme editor to fix the javascript problem? Any chance I can have a link to the old EE in the meantime to tide me over please?

Hi,

Well, glad that the problem is figured out :) Well you could try editing it yourself, but it may be better to refer to the theme author yes as this is no doubt affecting all of his users.

We don’t have links to the old versions, so I have sent a copy of 3.1.34.1 to the email address we have on file for you.

Many thanks for your help. Good to have our sliders back up and running.

No problem. Would it be possible just to send out a tweet, advising that it actually wasn’t us that caused this? We would appreciate that. :)

I’ll mark this as resolved, as the issue is now known.

Thanks
