Invoice and PayPal Discrepancy Problem

I’m sending invoices to registrants who made a previous partial payment and owe the rest of their balance for an event in July. However, I’ve been notified by those making payments that PayPal is listing what they owe as the full amount with none of their previous payments reflected. For example, one registrant registered for the event at a ticket of $2390. The invoice in EE shows she paid $395 already, for a new total of $1995 due. However, when she clicks on the link to pay through PayPal, it wants to charge her for the whole $2390.

I have been able to replicate the problem myself of the invoices being different than what PayPal tries to charge.

I have the following setup:
WordPress version WP 3.8.1
Event Espresso – Attendee Mover Tool by Event Espresso version 1.1.b,
Event Espresso – Calendar by Event Espresso version 2.2.2.p,
Event Espresso – Multi Event Registration by Seth Shoultes version 1.0.5.p,
Event Espresso – Social Media by Event Espresso version 1.1.7.p,
Event Espresso by Event Espresso version 3.1.36.4.P.

I wonder if the problem is because I setup things this way: I created a partial payment registration ticket of $395 as a separate ticket from the full payment registration of $2390. After someone pays the partial payment, I move I moved the partial payment folk using the Attendee Mover Tool and update it to show what is still owed. Everything seems to work fine in the EE system every time I’ve tested it out (correct amounts reflected), but it doesn’t properly update the PayPal.

Thank you in advance for any help you might offer!

Hi selmore,

Event Espresso 3 does not officially support partial payments.

However previously the Paypal gateway has been modified to support partial payments and a guide posted here for users that would like to use it:

http://staging.eventespresso.com/wiki/setting-partial-payments-ee/

In effect this mod creates an input box for the payment amount on the payment screen so it can also be used for deposit’s rather than moving the attendees and editing the tickets, they would just input the deposit amount on the payment screen and complete the transaction.

Does that help?

Thank you, Tony! I will try the changes and see if I can get it to work. I’ll update this message thread to let you know how it goes.

Awesome. Looks like it works just fine. I’ll have one of the registrants make a payment to make sure, but it seems like it is just what I needed.

Cheers,

Steve Elmore
