I installed beta 4 and now nothing works so I deleted beta 4 from plugins…still doesn’t work (events not showing on calendar…no description or register buttons on events page….no add to cart link). Please advise (just purchased VIP Support…think I’ll be needing it). Thanks – site: http://www.travelertickets.com

Hi Keith,

EE4’s database structure is vastly different from 3.1 and as such upgrading/downgrading between can cause issues. The beta versions are generally for testing and should not really be used on a live production site.

Is it possible for you to send us your login details so we can take a look and investigate this further? If so please use http://staging.eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

Hi Keith,

As mentioned previously EE4’s database structure is vastly different from EE3.X.

As such in order for EE3.X to work correctly you’ll need to remove the Event Espresso tables and any reference to EE from the WP database (wp_options table).

If you made a backup of your site before installing EE4 you could restore this, which would be your best option, otherwise this will need to be manually via phpMyAdmin or similar.

Unfortunately this would not be covered under normal/vip support.

OK. Sounds easy to do…for someone that’s done it. What would it cost to get this site up and running again? I know just enough to be dangerous but not enough to be effective. Name your price.

Nevermind – had bluehost do a account reset/wipe. Seems to work now when reinstalled.

Personally I think that was your best option.

It is advisable to always backup both your database and files before performing any updates (or even trying out new plugins), the database is the important part as without it, nothing works.

That doesn’t just apply to EE but all plugins/themes etc

It may seem unnecessary and take up more time performing back-ups, but when the time comes and they are needed you’ll be patting yourself on the back :)

There are numerous plugins to help make backing up your site quick, easy and painless.
