I am working on a project which entails running several sites, but for one business managing the same event in different locations. Because of the partners involved, each event will be independently branded, with their own URL. To make the website development easier, WP Multisite appears to be the solution to use, as the event design will be the same for each partner (main site is different, though).

I note that EE is possibly not set up for MS, however, for me to utilise EE to its maximum, I would need to get a license for each site – that will be 10 this year and 30+ in the future – this is impractical and expensive!

The events are free, so there are other plugins I could use, however, I also collect small payments from exhibitors. EE will make managing both of these convenient.

How best can I move forward?

If I was to have each registration on the master/primary site, is there a way I can directly reference that page on the secondary site, other than use some form of wrapper? This would mean that features like confirmation emails would be from the master domain, not the event, but I think I may just have to live with this!

Hello Bins,

Probably the best way forward would be to use the new API plugin we have released. This works with JSON so you can load data from the main site onto other sites, I believe you can even load the registration form as well.

The API is not intended for normal users, it requires a working knowledge of PHP and JSON. If you don’t know much about that I would advise you to consult a developer regarding it.

The API plugin is available from the Pre Release section of your account page and documentation can be found here: http://staging.eventespresso.com/wiki/api-addon/

If you did not want to use the API, then yes the only option would be via Multisite and whilst you can use the plugin on as many sites as you want, we will only support and provide updates for the sites you have a licence for.
