I originally installed the free version, but just purchased a license. I have spent the last 30 minutes reading posts to find out where I plug the license key into my WP settings, and have found nothing that I can figure out. There is no place under General Settings to do this. Please help!

Hi Chris,

You need to deactivate EE Lite and activate EE Pro. There after you’ll see that option on the General Settings page: http://www.screencast.com/t/6f8b7Q1ShKZT

I deactivated EE Lite, but I don’t have a plugin for EE Pro, and when I search for it, there is not one available, only Lite.

Hi Chris,

It turns out that in this particular case you will need to deactivate the lite version and manually install the paid version before it will let you add a key. The steps to update from the lite version follow:

Download the full version of Event Espresso from your user profile page

Go to the Plugins page of your WordPress admin

Deactivate and delete the lite version of Event Espresso.

Click the “Add New” link at the top of the Plugins page

Click Upload

Click Choose File

Select the .zip file that you have just downloaded

Click the Install Now button

Ok, I tried that, but when I download the file, I have a mac, and it downloads as a folder containing all the files already unzipped. I cannot figure out why it doesn’t just download to my mac as a zip file. Should I try to zip it back up, then upload that file, or??

I just zipped back up the files, and uploaded / activated the pro that way. Seems to have worked, and I now see where I can plug in the key. I think I am good. One thing though, on my profile page, it still says “Not Active” under my key. Not sure if that is a big deal.

The activation on EventEspresso.com usually takes a few minutes. It looks correct now. :)

Hi guys, I also wasted a lot of time with this, is definitely something you should perhaps document in the purchase confirmation email or more prominently.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the feedback, it is always good to know about potential user experience issues. I will add a request to look into this in more depth.
