After a customer alerted us to not getting a confirmation email, we did some tests and narrowed down the problem to Hotmail accounts only. Once I added the sending email address to my hotmail safe list, I was able to receive an email. But this has never been a problem before as I’ve always tested registration with a Hotmail account. Any thought’s or suggestions?
Hello, If you are not currently doing so, then I would use a transactional email service: http://staging.eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/ —
We use Mandrill for a forum – Hotmail is the worst for not receiving mail (even through Mandrill) – So much so we have now banned hotmail sign ups to the forums (IPB) – I know this is not EE3/4 but its a mail issue with hotmail I guess you get what you may for and there are not many microsoft products that are any good :-) Hotmail being one of them
I’m actually surprised to hear that about Hotmail as we’ve never had any problems before. I always test using my own hotmail account and have always gotten emails. Do you know if Hotmail or EE did any updates that might have changed anything?
David, thanks for sharing that feedback. Erin, Event Espresso doesn’t do any selective filtering for domains. It requests that an email notification be sent out and wp_mail usually handles this but we have found that using a transactional email service like postmark app or mandrill works much better for ensuring that emails are delivered. —
And to add – I opened case after case with Hotmail and listed our server IPs and everything – I got nowhere which is why in the end we gave up and banned hotmail registration
