We’re using Event Espresso to run local networking events. They’re chargeable, but all the payments are handled in cash on the day (no payments in advance).

What’s the best way to deal with this?

The invoice payment option would be one way.

Thanks – I’ve looked at the invoice payment, and it’s not quite what I’m after.

What I want to happen is:

  1. People book onto the event, cost of £10.
  2. They are marked as “booked to attend” (but not paid), and the booking has a message saying “bring cash on the day”
  3. When they turn up and pay, they can be marked as paid by the event manager.

We don’t want to give them an actual invoice, because often the invoice is from the venue, not us. Just a message to bring £10 is fine.

Then I suggest the check/money order payment option. You can add instructions via the payment settings to let them know to bring cash. The text strings can also be “translated” if need be by using an application like poedit.

Download the en_US language file (or which ever language the site is using) change the needed text strings, save, and upload the new po and mo files back to /languages.
