Is it possible to sell gift certificates through EE for an open amount of money? In other words, the customer will put in how much money they want the gift certificate to be for? If that is doable, does EE generate a discount code that the recipient would use at check-out or does EE issue a hard-copy gift certificate. Is there a way to give the purchaser the option of a discount code or a hard-copy? Do you know of any websites who use EE and do this?
We don’t have a gift certificates module right now. That system would have to be planned, and built by a developer. If you really need this feature we might consider adding it to Event Espresso 4 if you can help with the cost (more information about Sponsored Development sponsored development), otherwise we’ll add it to our list of feature requests.
Greg Davis posted a similar question a few months ago on this support site. In it, he sites one of his clients who do sell gift certificates through EE:
Not sure if Greg ever managed to get that implemented or not but if he did he would have had to create a custom add on plugin or at least modify the plugin to cater for his needs.
