I use Better WP Security and received a message that the file wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/gateways/atos/default/pathfile changed although I didn’t make any changes. When I checked the file on my server it is blank. Then I checked for this file by downloading the most recent EE folder and looking for the pathfile but it is not part of the EE files from what I can tell. Can you tell me if event-espresso/gateways/atos/default/pathfile is part of EE? I’m just trying to figure out if someone hacked me and added a file. This worries me since it is part of the gateways path. Thanks.

So it appears that this file is not part of EE and only appears if ATOS is set up (I don’t use ATOS), is this correct?

It’s correct that the file isn’t included with Event Espresso.
