HELP!!! We’ve gone live with our registration and now there seems to be a major glitch. We Sandbox tested and even real-live tested with no issues…but now the second person to really register somehow received a “Completed” green check in the attendee list without paying…it also says “Still Owing” the full amount in their profile! I checked PayPal – no sign of their transaction at all. How did this get a “complete”? And how did they get registered? Makes me very nervous! Please help!

I was able to re-create the problem…if someone goes through the registration process, clicks on the PayPal button, goes to PayPal and then just closes the browser (ie. does not click “Cancel Transaction”), then the person is still added to the attendee list with a “Payment Complete” green check – but the Payment Type is blank. If you go into their profile it still says “Total Amount Owing = $45”, “Total Amount Paid = 0”. Now I just need a solution!

Hi Shannon,

Can you check the setting for the default payment status? There are actually two of them, one that is set globally (for all events) in Event Espresso>General settings under advanced settings. This should be set to incomplete or pending. If it’s set to Completed, you can change it to one of the other settings.

Then, in the event editor, the default payment status setting can be changed for that event only, so it’s a good idea to check there too.

I’ve checked both settings – General Setting is set to default to ‘Pending’ and the settings in the actual event are set to default ‘Pending’. Weird thing is – sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t. At least I have a way of telling if it really is complete – the payment type says PayPal if they paid and it is left blank when no payment has been made. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Hi Shannon,

When the default payment status is set to “Pending”, it should set all non-paid registrations to “Pending”. Only those that have paid should be set to Completed. I would check for a plugin conflict by deactivating any other plugins that are installed and running some tests.
