(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home/staging-poc/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114 expected behavior for Email Event Attendees? | Event Espresso - Staging Server
Hi! We are trying to use a custom email template to email event attendees reminders that their classes start tomorrow. When we go to the Email Event Attendees page, we see our custom template in the “use pre-existing email” drop-down box, and can select it, but were expecting the body of that template to show up in the email editor box below so we can make a few event-specific changes to it. Is that the expected behavior?
If it is not, I would love to see that added as a new feature, because what happens for us is that we need to make slight modifications for each event for values that are not accessible via the custom email tag options. If we could pull in some of the event meta fields, that would be really handy, too.
What template is used to display the page at /wp-admin/admin.php?page=events&event_admin_reports=event_newsletter&event_id=809 ? I would be willing to make the modifications to retrieve the saved custom email template (though I know that modifying the core product is not advised!) – and if this is a feature you’d like to add I can pass along the code so you can test it and integrate it if desired.
It turns out that the custom email template feature lets you either:
1) Select a ready-made email from the email manager
or
2) Compose an email within the event editor.
It’s not expected behavior for the content of the ready-made email to copy itself into the event editor when an email is selected.
Before you begin work on extending Event Espresso 3’s email feature, I should let you know that Event Espresso 4 has a brand new “messages” feature that has been built from the ground up. Also, all new feature development is going into ee4. I can recommend signing up for github access and installing ee4 on a test site to check out the new messages feature, then report issues or even submit pull requests via github if you have any feedback.
