Hi Josh

A while ago EE was working on a theme that would be compatible as a single event theme for EE – (remember this post http://staging.eventespresso.com/topic/recommendations-for-the-best-conference-theme-single-event/)

wondering if this got much further as you can tell, Im back again in the event theme pain. This fudge theme “looks” great but is clunky as all hell on the back end and causes issues with EE.

Hi Derek,

I answered this on the other thread as well :)

The Event Espresso Theme is still a work in progress, most new features, and projects are on hold while we get EE4 finished, polished and released.

Hi Dean

Sadly I had to drop Event Espresso for this project and not use it. It’s not your fault, it’s the terrible theme I had invested so much time in had conflicts with EE due to the poor code in the theme (hence me begging for a new theme)

I really really really will use EE next time, it’s a beautiful package and it cost money and time to not have it work :( because of the theme.

Please, if you are considering what to develop as the next extension, please please develop a single event theme that works with EE. People will beat a path to your door to buy it

FYI – I ended up going with WooCommerce and simply putting the ticket as a product in the catalog :)

Sorry!

Derek

Hi Derek,

No problem, it happens and you need to do what your business requires.

Could you please advise what theme it was that had the issues? I will add it to our known conflicts page.

Hi Dean

It was FUDGE theme. It’s probably one of the nicest of the event themes from an ease of use/aesthetics case, and it’s simple to set up.

However it’s not using the native WP best practices and throws errors with Event Espresso, specifically when EE is loaded the Fudge Widgets stop functioning and dont serve up speakers/agendas etc etc.

Fudge also doesnt plan on upgrading. They say the theme is a one hit one theme only thing and they will focus efforts on building new themes than upgrading . . so I cant imagine these issues will be fixed.

However, it is a great theme if you want to do a simple one page event using Eventbrite for Credit Card payment (and are happy to pay the EventBrite fees). Just dont try to get it to do anything more or load any plugins of merit
