    Hi …

We have installed EE for our conference which is later this week and tested the QR code some months ago and it was working brilliantly!

However, with the new iOS when we did a test scan of a ticket QR code yesterday and today on our iPhones, the app reports ‘DECLINED … attendee already checked in’ … even though this is the first time the ticket has been scanned (we created some test registrations).

Could you please advise how to fix this problem as our event is this week (begins Wednesday morning Australian time) and we have 10 different ticket types for the conference and really need this to work. The QR reader was one of the main selling points for us in choosing EE as our system.

Note: when we created the test ticket, the ‘attended’ field reads ‘0/1’ as expected. After scanning and receiving the error message the ‘attended’ fields reads
‘1/1’ as we would hope after a successful scan. Question: How will we really know if a ticket has already been scanned or not is we get the ‘Declined’ message for both a successful and unsuccessful scan?

Is there anything which can be done in the next 60 hours? We really hope we don’t have to revert to a manual system … ugh!

Appreciate any help you can provide.

    Kind regards
    Belinda

    Hi,

Very sorry to hear you are having trouble with iOS7. I know this must be very frustrating. However, I haven’t seen this particular issue with iOS7, but we have submitted an update to the iTunes a few days, that fixes some other unrelated bugs. But Apple need to approve and publish the update, which has taken at least two + weeks in the past.

Almost forgot. Would it be possible to revert back to iOS6? OR find another device that is running iOS6?

Also, what version of the Event Espresso JSON API do you have installed?

      Hi Seth,

Thank you for your reply. I do hope Apple come through with the update in the next 12 hours and the update fixes our problem!

In the meantime, we’ll look around for someone who is running iOS6 however I think most people have updated by now as it’s been out for a few weeks.

I am running the Event Espresso HD app version 1.6.1 … and using version 2.0.2.p for the JSON/XML API for Event Espresso.

I’ve just noticed there is an EE plugin update which needs updating. I’ll update that now and let you know if it fixes the problem.

      Thanks again for your assistance!

        Hi Seth,

I’ve just updated the EE plugin and it doesn’t fix the problem.

Is there some way to mark attendees as ‘Attended’ in the online system?

Otherwise it’s back to a manual system for us.

          Hi Belinda,

It may help to update the JSON API to version 2.0.4. I’ve not been able to reproduce this issue on iOS7 so at this point I’m thinking it’s something else that’s causing this to happen.

            Hi Josh,
I have just updated the JSON API to version 2.0.4 however it hasn’t helped the QR reader :-( .
            Thanks for the suggestion.

              Hi Belinda,

I think if you were to try scanning a ticket on iOS6 you would find the same issue. I can’t reproduce this on my test sites with my iOS7 devices.

If you are running any caching plugins you can try deleting the cache and turning caching off (please note that in order to turn the caching off the *cache setting* needs to be turned off, deactivating the caching plugin will not turn caching off)

You can also try temporarily deactivating any other plugins that were installed recently in order to rule out any potential plugin conflicts.
