Display events that are present in 2 categories in event list

Hi,
I read this in the forum that would solve my problem but it didn’t work for me.
http://staging.eventespresso.com/topic/list-events-only-if-they-are-in-two-categories/

Any suggestions on how else I can achieve this or what I might possibly be doing wrong. I’m using custom event list.

Hi,

The shortcode does work I just tested it. you need to add in the category identifier which can be found in the Categories menu page on the right hand side of each category http://d.pr/i/aTZN

So using the above example and another, the shortcode would read:

[EVENT_LIST category_identifier=”testcat-1375951504, anothercategory-3423234″]

Hi,

Thanks for your prompt response. That’s exactly what I’ve done. Does this method display if event is present in both categories or just displays all the events listed?

I’m looking to only display if the event is present in both categories.

Hi,

I’ve just looked into this and currently the shortcode does not allow you to show only events within 2 or more categories. It will show events from multiple categories but not if ONLY within those multiple categories.

This would need to done within a custom shortcode.

The simplest method is to create a third category for those events and call just that single category.

Is it difficult to create a custom shortcode? My client won’t be too happy if I say I can’t do it.

Hi,

To create a custom shortcode you will need to know PHP and MYSQL to a reasonable level at least.

You can use the existing shortcodes as a basis for your new one. The difficulty level is subjective, it depends on your knowledge.
