Date selection issue when adding an event

When I set up an event, the only way I can make it active when it should be active is by typing in the date manually with the american date format (mm/dd/yyyy), this is very confusing for users and I really don’t want to have to ask our clients to type the month before the day.

If i use the calendar tool to pick the date it outputs it in the format specified in WP-settings “31. August 2012”, but this does not seem to work with Event Espresso (often the date is also cut off at the end).

What version of Event Espresso are you using? I don’t think this is a known bug.

The installed version is: 3.1.26.P Screenshot bellow showing the issue. When I set the date it cuts off part of the date and believes it to be the year 201 instead of 2012

I’ve had a look in the database in table wp_events_detail and there the dates are saved as plain text. I tried increasing the character limit from 15 to 25 and this solved the problem of dates beeing cut off, but I still need to format my dates in the american format (mm/dd/yyyy) for the events to be accurately set to active/inactive. This “hack” does not however work with the event-list widget, where no events are outputted unless I choose to show inactive.

Turns out the culprit was another (and very badly written) plugin (Events Planner) which added it’s JavaScript file on all pages in the admin interface. In this JS-file the same selector as Event Espresso uses (“.datepicker”) was used to set up a jquery UI datepicker but with a different dateformat. This meant that the dateformat inserted into the event espresso database was incorrect and so made the plugin not work.

Sorry for the inconvenience folks. Hopefully this save a few hours of frustration for anyone else who has to migrate a live site with Events Planner to Event Espresso. Tip: If you can’t uninstall Events Planner before Event Espresso i up change the date format in plugins / events-planner / js / events-planner.js on line 446.
