Hello, when a user is not logged in, then get this message on the event page:
You are not logged in. Before you can reserve a spot, you must
register.
If you are a returning user please Login
New users please Register
This message includes links to login and register.

Where can I find this to edit the message?

Hi Matthew,

Those strings are within espresso-members/member_functions.php lines 145 – 147

I would recommend ‘translating’ those strings rather than altering the code as its more update friendly.

We have a guide on how to change words/phrases available here:

http://staging.eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/

You need to translate the full string when using this so for example on line 147

__(‘If you are a returning user please ‘, ‘event_espresso’)

You’ll need to translate ‘If you are a returning user please ‘ (notice the space is also required)

Thanks @Tony! Those instructions will help a great deal as I continue to customize the site.

For this purpose, rather than “translate” the text, I would like to replace the last two lines (with the login or register links) with the Social Login widget that I am using. Would this be possible?

My site is http://www.concertRSVP.com — this would help tremendously — as users are currently being redirected to another page for login.

Its possible but in that case you would need to modify the code in the file mentioned above.

However you could set the Registration/Login page under Event Espresso -> Memeber Settings. http://d.pr/i/dxpT

Just input your custom registration/login page into those fields and EE will direct user there.

I will need help modifying the code to insert a widget. I understand that I can change the Registration/Login page links but I don’t like how that sends the user to a different page (away from the registration page).

I found this website http://buddydress.com/2010/04/add-a-widget-anywhere-in-3-simple-steps/ showing how to add the widget but I keep getting a server error, probably because I am messing up the code.
