Good day,

I have tested a number of times with my Android devices connected on a WiFi connection and it works perfectly.
However today at the client when I tried connecting with the Android App using the 3G connection on the Android devices I got the following error:
Connection Error org.xmlpull.v1XmlPullParserException: expected: START_TAG {null}methodResponse (position:START_TAG <html xmlns=’http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml’>@3:44 in java.io.InputStreamReader@41f227e8)

Needless to say the client was not happy that I could not demonstrate and to them if it can’t connect on 3G they not paying for all my work. :(

Pretty please help as soon as possible.

Paul

Wireless or 3g connection shouldn’t matter. It sounds like a time or date might be missing from one of the events, or there is a special character that the device cannot parse for some reason. Possibly in an event or attendees details.

So then there should be the same issue/stuff missing on your test website as I have just tried that too.
The device is NOT connecting through 3G.. Works perfectly through WiFi connection.

Hi Paul,

If I had an android device I’d try to test this, but I do not.

This forum thread might have just what you’re looking for though:

Paul,

Just curious, do you have error reporting turned on for your WP install? If so, that will cause the app to fail if there are any errors in the site at all.

Josh, you are a damn champion! That solved it. Thanks so much! :)

Seth, do you have error reporting switched on on the Espresso test site?

Good find Josh!

@Paul yes, I turned on debugging on our test drive site yesterday, but forgot to turn it off. So it was probably invalidating the XML response when trying to load events. I have turned it off for now.
