My client contacted me this morning and said that they are getting this message whenever they try & register someone. I upgraded to the latest version via FTP until the license key issue is resolved, but it didn’t fix the problem. Please help – thanks!!

Hi Angie,

Which version of Event Espresso were they on before? Where are they getting this error message? On the front end of the site, or the admin?

Are the add-ons updated to the latest version? Also, are there any template files in /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates?

  1. The version was the one right before this last upgrade.
  2. The error occurs after a person tries and register on the front end. No attendees show up on the back end.

  3. Yes
  4. No

Thank you very much – good product!

Is the site in question the same site that you linked to above? If so, it’s not on the current version. The current version of Event Espresso is 3.1.28.4, and the source of the page indicates that fclibraries.org is on 3.1.28, so it’s a few versions behind.

If that’s the case, I’d recommend updating to the latest version of Event Espresso.

The other thing that may help is to wrap the ESPRESSO_EVENTS shortcode with raw short tags like this:

[raw][ESPRESSO_EVENTS][/raw]

I downloaded the latest version today from my account and uploaded earlier today. If I tried to upgrade automatically, I get this message:

An error occurred while updating Event Espresso: Update package not available..

I will go ahead and add the raw tags. Thanks again for the quick response!

Did you modify any of the files that you downloaded? A fresh copy of Event Espresso will say that it’s on Event Espresso 3.1.28.4.

I’m redownloading it now. I will then extract, and drag it over to Filezilla to override the files. It won’t let me do an automatic upgrade because of the site key issue. Is this the best way to do it?

Thank you!!

What I normally do is deactivate Event Espresso from the plugins page, delete it, then upload via the plugin zip file using the built in WordPress plugin uploader. Then re-activate.

FTP will also work, but you will need to deactivate Event Espresso first. Then what I would do next is re-name the existing event-espresso folder to event-espresso-old. Then upload the new version. Then re-activate the plugin. Then be sure to delete the old version.

I didn’t deactivate first – thanks for the heads up. I’ll do it as you instructed and let you know. Thanks again for your help!

That might explain part of the problem. If the plugin doesn’t get deactivated/reactivated, the database tables will not get updated.

Which reminds me, it’s always recommended to take regular backups of the database.

That did it – thank you again for your help. Have a great Thanksgiving!!!
