It looks like your theme is wrapping everything in between the header and footer in a div with inline style of text-align:right. Unfortunately, this will override just about anything you can put in a css file. (http://specificity.keegan.st/) About the only thing you can do, aside from altering the theme (which is what I would do) is to add an inline style to the upcoming events widget. Look at templates/widget.php (copy it to uploads/espresso/templates before making any changes) at the function widget, lines 19-149. put in an

echo '<div style="text-align:left">';

at the start of the function, and

echo '</div';

at the end of the function.
