I want to take purchase orders as a method of payment as well as taking Mastercard & Visa. How do I add this capability at Checkout.

Hello Ellen,

Any one of the offline payment methods should work. You could build an additional form on another page using Gravity Forms or another WordPress form creator plugin that can handle uploading purchase orders, or a purchase order form.
