Seth is a full time PHP programmer/web developer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has worked in the web design and development industry since 2001. In 2005 Seth opened his web design studio Smart Website Solutions where he designed and developed websites for small and large businesses throughout Utah, Nevada, and Arizona.

In April of 2009, Seth finished development of his first WordPress plugin called “Events Registration with PayPal IPN”, later renamed to “Advanced Events Registration”, and (finally!) in the early part of 2010 it was renamed to “Event Espresso”. Over time, he became so busy with the development and support of Event Espresso that he quit his full time job to focus all of his time and energy on building a company around the Event Espresso plugin for WordPress.

Garth has over 10 years experience in business management and internet marketing. He earned both a Master’s of Business Administration and a Master’s of Healthcare Administration from the University of Utah in 2011. His strengths are in business management, strategy, entrepreneurship and customer service. He competed in the 2011 Utah Entrepreneur Challenge for Event Espresso, taking home the grand prize of $40,000 for their business plan. He also innovates new business forecasting and management techniques specific for the WordPress community. He has spoken at WordCamps Chicago, Salt Lake City, Detroit and New York City on WordPress entrepreneurship and plugin development. He enjoys helping other people and small businesses be successful, his family and church, outdoor recreation and iStuff.

Sidney joined the team in May, 2011, after working as lead developer for a  design firm specializing in building WordPress websites. While there, he honed his skills in WordPress specific languages and skills, but his programming experience includes Java, C, Fortran, Matlab, Assembler, Basic, and, of course, Logo. His most valuable contribution to the team is as debugger and problem solver, skills he first developed earning a BS in Physics from George Mason University and further honed as a troubleshooter for a major telecommunications firm. His interests include delving into Linux systems, prime number theory, mechanical engineering, and long walks on the beach.

Josh has helped out in the support forums since September of 2011 and has worked his way up the forum ladder to become the “CFJ” (chief forum janitor). When he’s not helping someone out or working on a project, you’ll often find him sneaking outside to ride his mountain bike or hitting the trails on foot. He is married to, and business partners with, his wonderfully talented wife Natalie. Darren has been developing websites for over 10 years and has been a fan of WordPress since “Billy Strayhorn” (WordPress 1.5).  Yeah, that’s a long time ago.  Darren is the founder of the WordPress development shop roughsmootheng.in, and creator of the popular WordPress plugin Organize Series.  He is the other Canuck on our team who lives in Waterloo, Ontario in Canada with his wife and four children.  Darren first started working together with the Event Espresso team when he was hired to help develop our new website and implement some special sauce to make things work with automatic updates and all the other behind the scenes goodness.  Darren likes to believe that nothing is impossible with WordPress.

Jonathan has over 14 years of customer service experience in various industries, such as: banking, retail, healthcare software, and IT. He earned a Bachelor’s of General Business, with a concentration in Business Technology, from Southeastern Louisiana University. Jonathan has been using WordPress since 2009 and started building sites for clients in July 2011. He daydreams and brainstorms ideas of how to push WordPress to the limit. Jonathan and his wife, Amanda, live in a small town in Mississippi where they enjoy spending time with family and friends in the community.

Michael Nelson is another wordpress developer nut living in Victoria, BC Canada. He graduated from Brigham Young University in Computer Science and his favourite programming languages are Java, Python, and PHP. He’s worked for large organizations, small tech companies, and independent contract work. One of Michael’s hobbies is developing family history software (he was one of the lead developers of the Relative Finder Facebook app, participated in the 20Minute Genealogist, and is currently developing another Family Search client application. Non-nerdy hobbies include square dancing with his wife, Amanda, and helping take care of the family’s llamas and alpacas.
